Chaco Canyon

The boys didn't have school on Friday so we decided it was time for another road trip.  So we loaded up the car with the Kempton's and we headed for Chaco Canyon. Out of the 94 photos, these were some of my favorites.

Quick trip to Mesa Verde

We are on Spring Break (which seems crazy because it is only the 2nd week in March), but we are making the most of it. We decided to go to Mesa Verde and thought it would be fun to take the cousins along.  So 8 of us piled in the car and off we went. It was the 5 boys, my little niece (who does not like pictures so she is undocumented in this story :0) but she was there) and Kaite (my sis-in-law) and me.  The boys had a blast and they worked really hard to fill out their Jr Ranger booklets.
The Furious 5

Some of the overlooks were pretty close together so the 3 older boys decided to run.  It was great because there was hardly any people (but the bummer was not all of the park was open).

Here is O working really hard to do his maze so that he could finish his booklet.

Here's the Furious 5 being sworn in as Jr Rangers

Loved this picture.  You could see for miles and I love the hit of Shiprock

Bunny-Sit

In Jan. Em's science class was divided into groups.  Each group got to pick a class pet.  So every 4 weeks or so, we get to bunny-sit on the weekend.
This is Fudge, she is so cute and soft.

She hops around the house and loves to explore.  It is so strange to see a bunny hopping around the house.  Sometimes it startles me because shes so quite.
O loves it when we bunny-sit.  He said he even likes her even though she bites him :0)

One night the boys were upstairs so she just decided to take a nap on my floor

So, in 7th grade science class they also learn about reproduction, so...... Fudge got a boyfriend!  Meet Butterscotch.  He is SO soft and a little shy.  But, I have learned that these two will be parents in about 30 days!!! Thankfully she didnt get knocked up on my watch. Hahahahahaaha

He is so cute, no wonder she couldn't resist him.

It might have been his cute tail

Whatever the reason, they are so fun.  The best part is I dont have to clean up after them all the time.  I kind of like the "loan-a-pet" situation.  You love on them and send them back.  Then you start to miss them and its your turn to watch them again.

1st Track Meet

This spring Em chose to not play soccer and decided to try some Track and Field.
He signed up for shot-put and ended up getting the top score for Tibbetts. I didnt get any pictures of that event because I was at gymnastics with O.
His first track event was 100m hurdles.
Here he is getting reacy.  He's the one in the black clothes and bright green shoes.

Bang..... and he's off.  His form on the 1st two were pretty good, then it kind of went to heck but it was a great first run.

Go Em Go!!!

Now this is what he was waiting for.  He was so pumped for the mile (1600m).  He did pretty good, ended up with a 6:25.

He did great.  Once his knees get better he's going to be awesome.  He's got  Osgood–Schlatter disease, it is an irritation of the patella ligament. He gets painful lumps just below the knee.  He's basically growing faster than the ligaments can keep up with ( I think I'm only 4 inches taller, he's already taller than both his grandmother's).  Some days he can hardly go up and down the stairs and it looks like he has a small bouncy ball just below his knee cap. Hopefully he stops growing for a bit and it will go away before track is over and he will get in a few good meets.
This is what happens when the little guy has had enough.  He made it about 3 of the 6 hrs.  Thank goodness for Aunt T, because she took Ay and O home.

I can't wait for the next one.......
