This spring Em chose to not play soccer and decided to try some Track and Field.
He signed up for shot-put
and ended up getting the top score for Tibbetts. I didnt get any pictures of that event because I was at gymnastics with O.
His first track event was 100m hurdles.
Here he is getting reacy. He's the one in the black clothes and bright green shoes.
Bang..... and he's off. His form on the 1st two were pretty good, then it kind of went to heck but it was a great first run.
Go Em Go!!!
Now this is what he was waiting for. He was so pumped for the mile (1600m). He did pretty good, ended up with a 6:25.
He did great. Once his knees get better he's going to be awesome. He's got Osgood–Schlatter disease, it is an irritation of the patella ligament. He gets painful lumps just below the knee. He's basically growing faster than the ligaments can keep up with ( I think I'm only 4 inches taller, he's already taller than both his grandmother's). Some days he can hardly go up and down the stairs and it looks like he has a small bouncy ball just below his knee cap. Hopefully he stops growing for a bit and it will go away before track is over and he will get in a few good meets.
This is what happens when the little guy has had enough. He made it about 3 of the 6 hrs. Thank goodness for Aunt T, because she took Ay and O home.
I can't wait for the next one.......
Sooooo proud of this guy! He was a trooper pushing through the knee pain to run all his events. A great first meet!
