Track and a Marathon

Track season is over and it sure was a good one for Em.  He had some amazing races, can't wait to see what he does next year.  Basin is the last meet of the season and is typically for 8th graders, but Em made it to the 8th grade team and ran the 400m and 800m.  He did great.
One reason I will be excited to see him run next year is because his knees wont look like this!  After practice and meets he just hurts.  The bumps below his knees is the inflamation caused by growing too fast.  He has grown just over 2 inches in 6 months!!!
Here are some of his winnings

His times were pretty good.  In the shot-put his furthest throw was 23-09.  Then his fastest times were:  400m 1:07:98, 800m 2:43:20, 1600m 6:30:36, and 110m hurdles 21:44.  He was also on the 4x400m relay and their fastest time was 4:40:40.

By the last meet, his form over the hurdels got so much better.
This is Em winning the 400m!!!  Love this picture

This weekend we went to watch my sister run the Shiprock Marathon.  The boys did the Kids Marathon.  Starting in Feb they logged their miles and the had to run 25 miles before April  20.  We sent in their logs and that entered them into the race.  They got to run the last 1.2 miles to the finish line and got a shirt and a medal.
This is the boys getting on the bus to take them to the start
Em came so fast I didnt have time to get a picture of him, here is Ay in front of his little pack.
Great day for a race
Then after their race we went out to mile 20 to watch for my sister.  We made signs and yelled.
Hummm, are people supposed to look this cute at mile 20 of a marathon???
The little guy got bored.  Thank goodness there was dirt because it kept him occupied for awhile.
And, yes there were plenty of "sand angels"

So back to the track meet for a minute.  This video is of Em in the 110 hurdles.  It freezes every now and then but you get the idea.

  1. Just for the record, I did not feel "cute" at all at mile 20. Had no idea it would be such a great picture! Good memories of my awesome cheering section. :)
